Paris Hilton was born February 17, 1981, to Rick and Kathy Hilton, making her the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton hotels and source of the family fortune -- estimated at $300 million. Her grandfather, Conrad ''Nicky'' Hilton, Jr., also brought some notoriety to the family, as he was the first of Elizabeth Taylor's many ex-husbands. Paris' younger sister, Nicky (born in 1983), shares the throne as co-heiress of the Hilton empire. Growing up in Manhattan's ritzy Waldorf-Astoria, the family's New York home, as well as other Hilton digs in Beverly Hills and the Hamptons, Paris didn't seem to yearn for much. Even after graduating from high school, college didn't appeal to her. So, around the year 2000, Paris decided to branch out and become famous. She began to make a name for herself as a model, soon appearing in shows for designers such as Marc Bouwer and Catherine Malandrino, and she later completed an ad campaign for Iceberg, an Italian label. In addition, Paris has posed for spreads in national magazines such as GQ, Vanity Fair and FHM; she was most recently profiled, along with her sister, in People magazine. At the same time, Paris became the center of attention because of her relationships -- real or imagined by the paparazzi -- with some of Hollywood's hottest young stars. In early 2000, Paris was spotted around town with Leonardo DiCaprio. However, the press, especially the National Enquirer, blew their casual friendship far out of proportion. Nevertheless, she apparently dated Terminator 2's Edward Furlong for a few months, and was later seen out and about with boxer Oscar de la Hoya. The latest news is that Paris is currently shacked up with actor and Tommy Hilfiger model, Jason Shaw. Paris, along with her younger sister Nicky, also became notorious as socialites, gracing party after party and getting bad press for their antics. For example, Paris has grabbed headlines by shoving ahead of others in a washroom line, then, when upbraided for her rudeness, quipped that she only wanted to look at herself in the mirror. She has also danced on top of bar banquettes, gone topless for attention, and paraded around in designer T-shirts with slogans like, ''Got Blow?'' Yet Paris maintains that the bad press ''sucks'' and that ''people are mean.'' Perhaps in an effort to clean up her image, Paris has tried to make her mark by working on more substantial projects. In 2001, she had a cameo appearance in Ben Stiller's fashion spoof, Zoolander. Other appearances include a role as a strung-out supermodel in the film short QIK2JDG and the upcoming The Hillz (co-starring boyfriend Jason Shaw), and negotiations are underway for Paris to star in an upcoming FOX reality show along the lines of Green Acres. On top of that, along with her sister, Paris has designed a high-end collection of purses for Tokyo label Samantha Thavasa. Paris has also given back; she has done charity work for Toys for Tots. Unfortunately, her attempts to start a modeling company and a makeup line seem to have fizzled.

Paris Whitney Hilton, née le 17 février 1981 à New York, est l’une des héritières de la chaîne des hôtels Hilton. Mannequin, chanteuse, actrice, elle est surtout considérée comme une jet setteuse. Elle est considérée, en 2006, comme la personne au monde la plus exposée médiatiquement.
Paris est l'aînée de quatre enfants : elle a une sœur, Nicky, et deux frères, Barron et Conrad. Elle passe la majeure partie de son enfance en Californie, dans le quartier deBeverly Hills. Elle étudie dans une école très huppée avec son amie Nicole Richie et sa sœur Nicky Hilton, avant de repartir à New York où sa famille s'installe au dernier étage de l'hôtel Waldorf-Astoria qui appartient au groupe Hilton. Elle passe ensuite un an dans le pensionnat Canterbury, situé dans le Connecticut, avant de revenir à New York où elle est inscrite à Dwight, une école située dans l'Upper West Side, principalement fréquentée par des enfants de diplomates. Elle quitte l'école avant d'avoir obtenu son diplôme de niveau secondaire (équivalent du DNB).
Paris Hilton fait ses premières apparitions comme modèle dans plusieurs événements de charité. À l'âge de 19 ans, elle signe un contrat avec l'agence de Donald Trump, T Management. Par la suite, Paris apparait dans plusieurs campagnes de publicité notamment pour Iceberg Vodka, GUESS, Tommy Hilfiger, Christian Dior, et Marciano.
C'est en signant un contrat avec le diffuseur FOX afin de coanimer avec Nicole Richie, fille adoptive de Lionel Richie, une émission de télé-réalité, que Paris se lance dans le monde de la télévision. The Simple Life, sur laquelle les deux jeunes filles vivent durant un certain temps avec une famille de la campagne, devient très populaire. La première émission a lieu le 2 décembre 2003.
Après l'immense succès de la première saison, The Simple Life revient en force pour deux autres saisons. Suite à une dispute entre Paris et Nicole, le diffuseur annule l'émission, mais c'est le promoteur E! Entertainment Television qui rachète les droits de diffusion.
Petite-fille de Conrad Hilton, elle est l'héritière de la chaîne des hôtels Hilton. La fortune de sa famille serait estimée à pas moins de 6 milliards de dollars.
Elle s'est fait surtout connaître par l'intermédiaire de la vidéo de ses ébats sexuels (1 Night in Paris). Son ancien petit ami, Rick Salomon, les a vendues sur Internet, ce qui lui vaut un procès qu'elle gagne, et dont elle versera la moitié des dommages et intérêts à des œuvres de charité.
Elle apparaît dans les films The Cat In The Hat de Bo Welch ou encore La Maison de cire (House of Wax) de Jaume Collet-Serra et est également la vedette de l'émission de télé-réalité The Simple Life avec Nicole Richie.
Paris a été fiancée au richissime Páris Látsis jusqu'au 2 octobre 2005, date à laquelle elle annonce préférer rompre car elle estime s'être engagée trop tôt. Paris sort son CD intitulé Paris, auquel a participé le rappeur Lil' Jon et l'ancien membre du groupe N'Sync J.C Chasez. Son petit ami, le chanteur Nick Carter, ne travaillera pas sur le disque, du fait de leur séparation après sept mois de romance. Elle décide également de monter son propre label, Paris Hilton Records, pour sortir son disque. Son premier single Stars are blind sort en 2006.

Paris Hilton and actress Elisha Cuthbert were "all over each other and making out" at New York's Tenjune club Tuesday night, a source tells Usmagazine.com.
"Who knew?" says the source of the unlikely pairing.
Hilton, 26, and Cuthbert, 25 (who costarred in 2005's House of Wax), didn't arrive at Tenjune together. Hilton was there for a birthday party and was seen dancing on banquets. "It's Paris," says the source. "She loves putting on a show."
Earlier in the evening, Hilton attended the BlackBerry Pink Pearl Launch Party. "She was actually super well behaved and even took the time to take some photos with the BlackBerry executives," an attendee told Us.
A rep for Cuthbert denies the incident to Us.
"Thank God I'm free!"
These were the words of Paris Hilton, smiling and fluffing her newly replaced blonde hair extensions Tuesday at her grandfather's Bel Air mansion, just hours after her release from the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif.
In an exclusive interview and photo shoot with PEOPLE, Hilton, 26, gave a candid glimpse into her 23 days in jail – including her explanation of the medical problems that led to her brief transfer to house arrest, and what she says she's learned from her experience.
"I was basically in the fetal position, basically in hysterics," Hilton says of her first sleepless nights in jail. As for her fellow inmates, she adds, "All of the inmates were very supportive. There were girls next to me. We could talk through the vents and they were just really sweet."

On her medical condition:
"The doctors were observing me while I was there. They explained to Sheriff [Lee] Baca that they thought I was having severe anxiety, panic attacks, claustrophobia."
On people who doubt that she will change after her jail experience:
"They're wrong and they don't know me. I'm a good person. I'm a compassionate person. I have a big heart. I'm sincere, and they'll see."
On getting out:
"Just being able to hug my mom felt so great, and I really needed it 'cause I haven't had a hug in a long time."
